I've reduced the time dedicated to art production in my life for a long period, I was too busy and stuck in daily routine and this part of my life became a minor ones, few months ago I decided to give back to creativity the space that it deserves and that gives me the opportunity to enjoy the beauty produced by other artists and get inspiration for my continous improvement, those are few hints of the beautiful things that I've seen in this new spring, always and only traditional art!
I want to start with my daily food for years: cast drawing, a way of practicing that could appear boring from outside but in reality is a great way to understand and control values and form rendering.
Another great example of how beautiful can be something simple: a classic exercise, the rendering of a ball in all its nuances of shadow can express elegance and high level drawing skills.
What shall I add here...the perfection of the human body perfectly transferred on the paper with a high key drawing showing ryhitm, composition and anatomical skills,
To close this first collection I wanted to mention this project of handmade Playing Cards, I love the idea and the colors, I can't wait to see it completed!
After almost a year where I kept drawing as before but, due to the lack of a good scanner, I am not submitting anything, I am back here exploring the artworks that are produced and uploaded daily: for me it's not easy to find things that I like and that are inspiring me to draw more, better and to explore more techniques, so here you are a selection of valuables artworks that I've found swimming among many others:
First a classical study on drapery, light and shadow and values, even if drapery is a quite commo subject in "academical" studies I always enjoy observing a well done example that is also a fundamental exercise to build up other more complex artworks.
One of the kind of drawings that I always loved and appreciated, cast drawings: I've grown my skills, my attention to values and light positioning thanks to them so I always appreciate who wants to start from the basis to achieve something.
Then I've found two nice examples of sketching portraits that, even being sketches and not fully detailed artworks, are able to express feelings and emotions of the face, I am always amazed on how lights and shawods can trick our mind to see details and recognize faces and expressions among areas of light and shadow.
Here you are a beautiful and accurate full body study, able to define forms and volumes just with light and shadow areas, and the hand too is really nice!
And then a modern Caravaggio, with a lovely use of light and tone composition to offer an entrance to the core of the drawing from the light hitting the back of the two standing figures then, with a transition on the other two figures leads to the core of the artwork where light is shining and the eye is captured, a masterpiece!
Will inspect DA time by time to other nice drawings to be featured among the general noise.
